Suriname goes to the polls as president chooses youngest VP

May 25 - If incumbent President Desi Bouterse wins Monday's general election in Suriname, the country could have its youngest vice president, the 35-year-old former education minister, Michael Ashwin Adhin, when Bouterse on Saturday evening surprised the country by publicly naming Adhin as his vice presidential candidate. Adhin himself appeared to be surprised at the announcement.
