The Dominican Republic has spent the last several years setting Caribbean tourism records. Now the region’s most-visited destination has another distinction: it is the Caribbean’s highest-ranked economy in the World Economic Forum’s new Travel & Tourism Development Index.

The Dominican Republic ranks 66th globally among 110 economies in the 2026 index, with an overall score of 3.93.

That puts it ahead of Jamaica, which ranks 78th with a score of 3.65, making the Dominican Republic the highest-ranked Caribbean destination included in this year’s index.

It’s another notable result for a tourism sector that has been expanding across virtually every metric, from visitor arrivals and airlift to new hotels and emerging resort destinations.
