Trinidad and Tobago’s labour market weakened in the first quarter of 2026, with the unemployment rate rising to 5.4% this year, up from 4.9% in the same period in 2025.

This according to the Central Bank’s September 30 Monetary Policy Announcement yesterday.

The Bank stated that sectoral employment recorded mixed developments during the quarter, while its supplementary indicators suggested that labour demand continued to soften through July.
