Warning that small states like Barbados will “cease to exist” without an equitable rules-based order, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley is calling for an urgent renewal of multilateral cooperation which ensures that the United Nations (UN) is adequately resourced, reformed and empowered to deliver fairly for all.

Mottley signalled it could not be business as usual, highlighting a global “polycrisis” shown in unprecedented conflict, worsening climate change and high inequality, as she addressed the afternoon session of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly yesterday.
