(Cayman Marl Road): Spain has reaffirmed that citizens of nine Caribbean Community (CARICOM) countries can continue to travel to Spain and the wider Schengen Area without a visa for short stays, although the announcement does not represent a new immigration policy.
Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently published a consolidated list of 60 countries whose citizens may enter the Schengen Area visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period for tourism or business. The move has drawn attention across the Caribbean, but the visa exemption has been in place for years under European Union regulations, not a new decision by Spain.
The nine CARICOM member states whose citizens qualify for visa-free travel are Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago.
