Integrated Health Outreach (IHO) brought its gender-based violence awareness campaign to two secondary schools on January 29th, engaging dozens of students in discussions about recognizing and preventing violence against women and girls.

The youth-centered workshops were held at Sir Novelle Richards Academy and Princess Margaret School, attracting over 30 students at the former and eight to nine students at the other.

Kieron Murdoch, Communications Officer for Integrated Health Outreach, said the workshops were designed to deliver critical messages about gender-based violence to adolescents.

“These workshops are youth-centered workshops that are focused on delivering the message of gender-based violence awareness to adolescents in particular.

“We feel that that message is pertinent to bring to young people in that age range. And we find it’s very beneficial to work with schools, particularly the counsellors at different schools, in terms of connecting with groups of young people,” Murdoch said.
