Tourism generated 5.3 billion guilders for Curaçao last year, accounting for around 10 percent of the island’s gross domestic product, according to Roderick Middelhof, Minister of Economic Development.
Middelhof described the past year as a record year for tourism, with nearly 800,000 visitors traveling to Curaçao. December stood out as the strongest month ever recorded for the island, underscoring the sector’s continued momentum.
Overall, Curaçao’s economy grew by three percent, while the tourism sector expanded by ten percent, significantly outperforming the broader economy. According to the minister, this rapid growth also brings increased responsibilities for both the government and the private sector.
