Teaser
NON-Communicable diseases are an urgent challenge globally, but especially in the Caribbean. NCDs, including cardiovascular diseases, cancer and diabetes are responsible for more than 75 per cent of deaths in the Caribbean. Additionally, the Caribbean has one of the highest rates of NCD-related premature deaths in the world. Forty per cent of deaths due to NCDs occur prematurely - that is, in persons under the age of 70, according to figures presented during the World Bank Group’s recent webinar titled “The Impact of Non-Communicable Diseases in the Caribbean”.
