01 Jun 17 - Representatives of small island states demanded today a commitment to the protection and sustainable management of the oceans, with a view to holding a high-level forum on these marine spaces this month. Speaking to Prensa Latina on the occasion of the United Nations Conference on the Oceans, scheduled for June 5-9, Maldives Ambassador Ahmed Sareer said that this event represents an opportunity to act and respond to the decline they face, derived from marine pollution and the destruction of life in them.
