02 May 16 - The Virgin Islands has been unanimously elected to help lead a United Nations body that promotes development cooperation among Caribbean countries. Until 2018, the territory will serve as vice chair of the Caribbean Development Cooperation Committee, a permanent subsidiary body of the UN’s Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean.
