2 July 15 - In 2002, the global community came together in Monterrey, Mexico, to address key financial issues affecting global development. The International Conference on Financing for Development, the first United Nations gathering of its kind, resulted in a landmark global agreement in which developed and developing countries recognized their responsibilities in key areas such as trade, aid, debt relief and institution-building.
