The Disaster Virtual Library is curated by the Caribbean Disaster Information Network (CARDIN). According to the website of The University of the West Indies at Mona, Jamaica, this virtual library "is a collaborative effort between...CARDIN, University of the West Indies Library; the Unit for Disaster Studies, Department of Geography and Geology; the Regional Disaster Information Centre for Latin America and the Caribbean (CRID), with sponsorship from the International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (ISDR), CUSO and the European Community Humanitarian Aid Office (ECHO). The development of the Virtual Library resulted from a need for readily available documents on Caribbean disaster information."
