Following a steep decline in mid-2021, attendance rates of school-age children in LAC bounced back by the end of the year, but not enough to return to pre-pandemic levels. The attendance rate of schoolage children in countries across the region was 92.2 percent by late 2021. This constituted a clear improvement from mid-2021 when general attendance was at 84.4 percent. However, it remained 4.4 percentage points below pre-pandemic levels.
