Commercial banks, with their focus on financing the export and import trades, domestic consumption, and residential and commercial construction and real estate, continue to dominate lending activity; and are the main final placement locations for the financial savings of individuals, business firms, and most Government agencies, holding the funds for other financial institutions as well.
